Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian eksperimen. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMPN 1 Tegalwaru pada tanggal 4 Juli sampai dengan 1 Juli 2021. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta didik SMPN 1 Tegalwaru yang mengikuti kegiatan ekstrakurikuler bola voli yang berjumlah 40 orang. Populasi dalam penelitian diambil dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, sampel berjumlah 20 orang terdiri dari 10 orang putra dan 10 orang putri. Instrumen penelitian ini menggunakan Brady Test dengan tingkat validitas sebesar 0,086 dalam kategori cukup, sementara untuk koefisien validitas passing atas sebesar 0,904 yaitu dalam kategori tinggi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan pretest posttest design. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah rata – rata pretest sebesar 22,25 dan posttest 30,40. Hasil analisis Paired Sample T Test dengan data yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah nilai signifikansi (2-tailed) = 0,000 kurang dari taraf signifikan (α) = 0,05, maka H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa model Teaching Games For Understanding (TGFU) dapat berpengaruh untuk meningkatkan kemampuan passing atas bola voli SMPN 1 Tegalwaru. Kata Kunci: teaching games for understanding; permainan bola voli; passing atas Teaching Games For Understanding in Improving Volleyball Overhead Pass Skills ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to find out how much the use of the Teaching Games for Understanding Model can affect volleyball extracurricular member's overhead pass skills in 1 Tegalwaru Junior High School. This research used a quantitative method with an experimental research method. This research was conducted in 1 Tegalwaru Junior High School from 4th July until 1st July 2021. The population that was involved in this research was all of the students of 1 Tegalwaru Junior High School who took part in volleyball extracurricular. The population on this research was chosen by the technique of purposive sampling, the sample was involved 20 members which consist of 10 men and 10 women. This research used the Brady Test instrument with a validity level of 0,086 for sufficient category, meanwhile, the coefficient of validity of overhead pass was 0,904 which means high category. The result of this research showed that the average pre-test was 22,25 and post-test 30,40. The results of the Paired Sample T Test analysis with the data obtained from this research are the significance (2-tailed) = 0.000 less than the significant level (α) = 0.05. So, H0 is rejected and then H1 is accepted. From the results, it can be concluded that the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGFU) model can improve the overhead pass skill of the member of volleyball extracurricular in 1 Tegalwaru Junior High School.
