Abstract. This research paper aims to investigate the concept of technologically
driven Cognitive Intrusion of Work (CIW) on family life and vice versa. Due to the
current situation, people’s work-life balance is impacted by continuous usage of
technology for work and personal purposes and is referred to as “technoference”.
The primary motivation of this research is to establish the reliability and validity
of the constructs, namely, work interference with personal life (WIPL); personal
life interference with work (PLIW), and work personal life enhancement (WPLE)
on work-life balance to study their link with work-life balance. To assess the uni-
dimensionality of the scales, both exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses
along with scale reliability and validity were performed. The research method-
ology was a cross-sectional design, and respondents were 641 higher education
teachers. The findings established a good relationship between the three constructs
and work-life balance, indicating that technologically driven cognitive intrusion
of work impacts personal life and vice versa, i.e., cognitive intrusion of personal
life happens at work impacting the work-life balance of individuals. The findings
help to conclude that people are impacted by cognitive intrusion due to technol-
ogy’s continuous influence in our day-to-day lives. The study is directly linked to
contemporary organizations as they have increased their technology usage during
work-from-home in the current pandemic times.

1 Introduction
Work-life balance has been an area of importance and study since the last decade. A
host of pertinent research work is available from different parts of the world as work-life
balance is related to all individuals worldwide [1–6]. Some profound literature suggests
the transition of work-life balance to work-life integration as boundaries between work
