Summary PENAS J., BENITO B., LORITE J., MORALES M. C. & MARTINEZ-ORTEGA M. M. 2008. Astragalus peregrinus subsp. warionis and A. guttatus (Fabaceae): new for the Iber- ian Peninsula. - Phyton (Horn, Austria) 48(1): 155-167, with 2 figures. We report the finding of two taxa of Astragalus L., A. peregrinus VAHL subsp. warionis (GAND.) MAIRE (N. Africa, Sicily) and A. gutattus BANKS & SOL. (from Israel to C. Asia, Crimea), in the S.E. Iberian Peninsula (Spain), which are new records for the continental flora of S.W. Europe. Information on ecological features and con- servation status is provided. Both species inhabit arid Mediterranean ecosystems (with Stipa tenacissima or Lygeum spartum as predominat species) and are under a severe risk of extinction at the regional level, due to the narrow geographic range of both species and the low number of mature individuals in the scarce known Iberian populations.
