Kajian ini berargumen bahwa Covid-19 yang mulai mewabah pada akhir 2019 di Wuhan, China, kemudian menyebar dengan cepat ke berbagai negara hingga ditetapkan oleh Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (World Health Organization) sebagai pandemik global adalah krisis modernitas. Penelitian ini berargumen, bahwa kemajuan modernitas tidak saja bermanfaat terhadap kehidupan manusia di satu sisi, tapi pada saat bersamaan juga telah ‘menciptakan’ krisis modernitas. Pembangunan yang didasarkan pada pengetahuan dan teknologi telah menciptakan kota-kota modern, tapi saat bersamaan terjadi kerusakan ekosistem besar-besaran, terutama sejak abad ke 15 M. Bagaimana hubungan modernitas dengan kemunculan pandemik Covid-19? Dengan menggunakan metodologi kualitatif dan teknik pengumpulan data melalui referensi kredibel baik dari kesehatan, politik maupun hubungan internasional, penelitian ini akan menganalisis secara kritis relasi tersebut. Hasil yang akan dibuktikan dari kajian ini adalah wabah Covid-19 merupakan akibat dari modernisasi dan globalisasi. Namun demikian, modernisme juga telah menyiapkan solusinya melalui penelitian dalam menemukan vaksin, serta sejumlah kebijakan politik dalam rangka menekan penyebaran pandemik. Kata Kunci: Covid-19, Modernisme, Globalisasi, Postmodernisme, Hubungan Internasional Abstract This article explains how Postmodernism perspective views the phenomenon of Coronavirus Disease (Covid) - 19 pandemic that is sweeping the world today. This study argues that Covid-19, which began to plague at the end of 2019 in Wuhan, China, then spread rapidly as a global pandemic is crisis of modernity. This research argues, that the advancement of modernity is not only beneficial to human life on the one hand, but at the same time it has "created" a crisis of modernity. The ongoing development based on knowledge and technology has created modern cities, but at the same time there has been massive ecosystem damage, especially since the 15th century AD. How is modernity related to the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic? By using qualitative methodologies and data collection techniques through credible references from both health, politics and international relations, this study will critically analyze these relationships. The result of this study are that the Covid-19 outbreak is a impact of modernization and globalization. However, modernism has also prepared a solution through researches in finding vaccines, as well as a number of political policies in order to suppress the spread of the pandemic.
