IAALD AFITA WCCA2008 WORLD CONFERENCE ON AGRICULTURAL INFORMATION AND IT EarthLookCZ as Czech way to GMES Karel Charvat 1 and Petr Horak 1 1 WirelessInfo, Czech Republic, charvat@wirelessinfo.cz Abstract Global Monitoring for Environment and Security is one of 4 ranges of solutions in the framework of ERA-STAR Regions project. GMES is one of the most important issues of European Space Policy and is focused on the building of an Earth monitoring system from which the data will be used mainly for environment and security. Project EarthLookCZ (www.earthlook.cz ) is one of pilot projects developed in the Czech Republic in the ERA-STAR regions framework. The project was introduced by WIRELESSINFO association and the main goal of the project is verification of spatial data infrastructure quality for GMES support. WIRELESSINFO association (www.wirelessinfo.cz ) is a non-profitable consortium who is developing a virtual research centre, which works on information technology development mainly in forestry, agriculture, environment and e-governance sectors. One of their main areas of work is the establishment of ad-hoc project teams, where experts from different universities and private companies are involved independently for each of the projects. The main technologies used for the projects are presented by spatial data management, web services, eCollaboration methods and mobile solutions. Keywords: GMES, SDI, INSPIRE Introduction Among other relevant projects of WIRELESSINFO the projects of 6FP – COLLABORATION AT RURAL (C@R), AMI@NETFOOD, MILQ-QC-TOOL, THE VOICE and PECS project AMI4FOR solutions in co-operation with European Space Agency ESA/ESRIN should be mentioned. Support the implementation of GMES in the Czech Republic is one the main goals of the EarthLookCZ project. An Analysis of the GMES Situation in the Czech Republic was completed in 2007 as the first project output. The analysis presents the importance of GMES within a European policy framework for Space research and refers current GMES activity on the both the European and national levels. In the Czech Republic the analysis is focused on current GMES solutions projects and on the activities currently taking place in the EarthLookCZ project with the main goal the implementation of the solutions. An overview of current data sources in public administration is another part of the study. An integral part of the project is edification and publication at scientific conferences and in various publications. From a technical point of view, the main outputs of the project are presented by The Design of Technological Infrastructure on the Basis of ISO and OGC Standards and also Design and Implementation of the Prototype of GMES Spatial Data 191
