In fact there are counselors who disagreed with hypnosis, even claimed that hypnosis contrary to the counseling, this argument even claimed that counselors should not be to learn and master the hypnosis and even the hypnotherapy. The manuscript trying to provide the meeting point, description of the use of hypnosis in counseling procedures and recommends to the counselor to have the hypnosis procedure well and properly, even utilizing hypnoterapi as one of the approaches that can be used in the process help to overcome psychological problems experienced by client. Keyword: Hynocounseling, hypnosis, counseling dan hypnotherapy PENDAHULUAN Istilah hipnosis masih asing di Indonesia, masyarakat lebih mengenal istilah hipnotis dibandingkan hipnosis. Hipnosis mengacu kepada cara sedangkan hipnotis adalah orang yang melakukan hipnosis. (Amalia, 2014; Wong & Hakim, 2009). Dengan demikian dapat dipahami kalimat “orang itu kena hipnotis”merupakan kalimat yang salah, seharusnya “orang itu dihipnosis oleh sang penghipnotis”. Istilah ini harusnya sudah mulai bergeser meskipun pada dasarnya dalam beberapa tahun terakhir ini hipnosis perlahan namun pasti mulai menjadi ilmu baru yang tenar di Indonesia. Mulai dari yang paling popular yaitu stage of hypnosis (hipnosis panggung) yang muncul di televisi maupun hipnoterapi yang digunakan untuk terapi psikis manusia.
