Abstract Both the application of offcial/published methods and the development
of a novel analytical protocol need specifc guidelines for their validation. Methods
developed for quality controls of botanicals could be classifed as: (1) phytochemical
assays, and DNA-based identifcation; (2) methods for the identifcation and quan-
tifcation of specifc compounds. The validation of the methods for phytochemical
