GAP 2008-030 Recovery of Saturated Signals of the Surface Detector Marco Aglietta a , Ivan De Mitri b , Silvio Maglio b , Simone Maldera a , Ioana C. The saturation is due to the overflow on the FADC channels and to the PMT nonlinear behavior. The method to recover the missing signal, described in this note, combines the previously developed “undershoot” and “signal fitting” methods. The validity and uncertainties are discussed. The influence on air shower reconstruction, mainly on the signal at 1000m from the shower core, is investigated. It is shown that in the given validity range the average EFD - ESD correlation for golden hybrid events is improved. The method has been implemented in the Off line framework and its use as a default method for analysis is recommended.
