CLÔTURES, FINS ET FINALITÉS DANS QUELQUES COMÉDIES À SUJET MYTHIQUE CLOSINGS, ENDINGS AND PURPOSES IN SOME COMEDIES BASED ON MYTHICAL SUBJECTS TERMINACIONES, FINALES Y FINALIDADES EN ALGUNAS COMEDIAS DE SUJETO MÍTICO Diana-Adriana LEFTER 1 Résumé La comédie est, surtout par la règle d’invention, assez peu adéquate aux sujets mythiques, lesquels sont matière de prédilection pour la tragédie. Il nous a paru donc d’autant plus intéressant d’étudier le fonctionnement d’un mythe dans quelques pièces comiques : il s’agit du mythe de la naissance d’Hercule, souvent appelé à défaut, selon nous, le mythe d’Amphitryon, pour voir en quelle mesure la fin et/ou la finalité du mythe peut se plier sur la fin et/ou la finalité de la comédie. Nous avons choisi à ce propos quatre comédies : L’Amphitryon de Plaute, pour aller vers les sources, Les Sosies de Rotrou, pour nous acheminer vers le classicisme, L’Amphitryon de Molière, pour l’âge d’or du théâtre et Amphitryon 38 de Giraudoux pour voir une modernité bien modérée. Mots-clés : exitum laetum, fondation, ironie, Hercule Abstract Being based on the « invention rule », the comedy is not the most adequate dramatic form for a mythical subject; this one is mostly preferred in tragedies. That is why we considered highly interesting to analyse and to discuss the functioning of a myth in some comedies: we talk about the myth of Hercules, which frequently wrongly called the myth of Amphitryon. We want to find out if and how the purpose and the end of the myth functions in a comedy. We take into consideration four comedies: Plautus’ Amphitryon, in order to investigate the very source, Rotrou’s Les Sosies, a pre-classical playwright, Molière’s Amphitryon, a typical classical comedy and Giraudoux’s Amphitryon 38, a well- tempered modern play.
