Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode simak dengan teknik lanjutan catat. Data yang telah dikumpulkan kemudian dianalisis menggunakan metode padan ekstralingual dengan teori SPEAKING Dell Hymes. Realisasi tindak tutur direktif yang terdapat dalam novel Ayah karya Andrea Hirata ditemukan ada 80 tuturan. Berdasarkan hasil klasifikasi yang telah dilakukan terdapat 5 klasifikasi yaitu 8 tuturan memesan, 48 tuturan memerintah, 11 tuturan memohon, 3 tuturan menuntut, dan 10 tuturan memberi nasihat. Tindak tutur direktif yang digunakan oleh tokoh-tokoh yang ada di dalam novel Ayah karya Andrea Hirata difungsikan oleh penutur agar mitra tutur melakukan tindakan sesuai dengan maksud tuturan yang disampaikan oleh penutur. Fungsi tindak tutur direktif yang ditemukan dalam novel Ayah karya Andrea Hirata ada tiga yaitu fungsi kompetitif sebanyak 56 data, fungsi konvival sebanyak 21 data, dan fungsi kolaboratif sebanyak 3 data. Tindak tutur yang terjadi dalam novel ini sudah sesuai dengan prinsip kesopanan di mana penutur tidak melampaui haknya terhadap mitra tutur. Kesopanan yang dimaksud disesuaikan dengan konteks yang terjadi dan status sosial antara penutur dan mitra tuturnya. Novel Ayah karya Andrea Hirata ini merupakan bentuk cermin dari sebuah realitas kehidupan sosial masyarakat Balitong. Melalui tindak tutur, karakter seseorang dapat dilihat. Kata kunci: Tindak tutur direktif, realisasi tindak tutur direktif, fungsi tindak tutur direktif, novel Ayah ABSTRACT This study aims to: (1) describe the realization of directive speech acts in novel Ayah by Andrea Hirata, (2) describe the function of directive speech acts in novel Ayah by Andrea Hirata. This research is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The data collection method used in this research is the method of listening to the advanced technique of note taking. The data that has been collected is then analyzed using the extralingual equivalent method with the SPEAKING Dell Hymes theory. The realization of directive speech acts contained in the novel Ayah by Andrea Hirata was found to be 80 utterances. Based on the results of the classification that has been carried out, there are 5 classifications, namely 8 ordering utterances, 48 commanding utterances, 11 pleading utterances, 3 decisive utterances, and 10 giving advice. The directive speech acts used by the characters in Andrea Hirata's Ayah novel are used by the speaker so that the speech partner takes action according to the intent of the speech conveyed by the speaker. There are three directive speech act functions found in the novel Ayah by Andrea Hirata, namely the competitive function with 56 data, the convival function with 21 data, and the collaborative function with 3 data. The speech acts that occur in this novel are in accordance with the principle of politeness where the speaker does not exceed his rights to the speech partner. The politeness in question is adjusted to the context that occurs and the social status between the speaker and the speech partner. The novel Ayah by Andrea Hirata is a mirror form of the reality of the social life of the Balinese people. Through speech acts, a person's character can be seen.
