To address the need to assess the FORTES program, educators asked the students enrolled in the program to respond to the Student Leadership Practices Inventory (S-LPI). The results of the survey suggest that the leadership competencies of the students in the program are consistent with a transformational leadership model. This type of efort holds some promise to help narrow the gender gap in leadership education. The main contribution of this study is to provide educators involved in student leadership development outside the United States with an instrument to assess leadership competencies among students.
