9 INVESTIGACIONES LITERARIAS EN BUSCA DEL CIUDADANO IDEAL Miguel Felipe Dorta y Patricia Méndez Díaz Universidad Central de Venezuela ramosucre@gmail.com, omomiakam@hotmail.com RESUMEN Para comienzos del siglo XIX, cuando Venezuela comienza su carrera republicana, uno de los proyectos que buscan los ciudadanos que están formando la Nación es instruir a los habitantes en cuanto a modales y uso de la urbanidad. Pero para esto, los nacientes republicanos o citoyen buscan mecanismos más pedagógicos y sencillos para incidir en todos los sectores. Los portavoces de esos mejoramientos son impartidos por cartillas, catecismos y manuales de urbanidad, los cuales tienen objetivos muy específicos. Sin embargo, las ideas igualitarias que habían nacido en la independencia quedan a un lado, y los manuales se convierten en el discurso de la diferencia y de lo prohibido. ABSTRACT At the beginning of the 19th century, when Venezuela starts its republican career, one of the projects that the citizens that are building the Nation are looking for is one to instruct the inhabitants in what it comes to manners and etiquette. But, for this, the new born republicans look for simpler and more pedagogical ways to have influence in all sectors. The voices of those improvements are imparted by little books, gospels, and manuals of etiquette with very especific objectives and the intention of not appearing as savages to the foreign eye, as it is ascertained by the possitivist discourse of the nineteenth century. However, the equalitarian ideas, born during the course of Independence are set aside and the manuals became the discourse of the difference and the prohibited.
