SEMINARUL GEOGRAFIC “D. CANTEMIR” NR. 26 / 2006 The Influence of the Anthropogenic Activities on the Bahlui Water Quality, Holboca Section (Iassy county) Iuliana Gabriela Breabăn, Oana Cristina Stan Abstract The process of our country adhering to the European Union entails as national priority the compulsoriness of reconciliation of the national legislative background with the legislation of the European Union, which in the domain of water protection accommodates the Water Framework Directive, as well as other 17 directives. One of the repeated aggressions on the environmental factors and especially on water is generated by the systematically/methodically pollutions caused by different economical agents. These are due to either the inexistence of the sewage treatment stations either to the moral and technical wearing of the installations and technologies. As a consequence of these systematically pollutions we can witness the degradation of the aquatic ecosystems, which are affected from a biological, sanitary, economical and social point of view. In the present paper we are trying to offer an image as relevant as it might be of the pollution of the waters of the Bahlui River in the Holboca area, and especially of the modifications suffered by the physical, chemical and biological water characteristics, as a direct or indirect effect of the anthropogenic activities. Key words: water quality, anthropogenic activity, Holboca section Introduction The process of our country adhering to the European Union imposes as national priority, an harmonious legislation to that of E.U., that contains also, water domain, The Directive concerning Drinking Water and other 17 directives (Ianculescu Speranţa, Ianculescu O., 2002). The European directives concerning drinking waters has three major steps: - first step, between 1970-1980, step in which the accent was stressed on “water-use protection”, by some qualitative standards and which defined the specific limits for water resources by different clients; - second step: 1981-2000, dedicated to “Source pollution reduction”, concerning the establishment of limited values admitted for pollutants evacuation into ocean waters; - Third step: after 2000, Durable water administration” for a “good state” for each water from, for similar life insurance concerning water for each citizen of Europe. The anthropogenic factors of spatial –temporal variation of surface quality are the accidental anthropogenic pollution but also the continuous used waters discharge. One of the repetitive aggressions upon environmental factors, especially upon waters, is the “systematic pollutions’ of some economic agents, due to non-existent purification plants, or due to the morale and technical usage of installations and
