A Practical Approach to Analyze Logical Thinking Development with Computer Aid 44 Breno Lisi Romano and Adilson Marques da Cunha Abstract Logical thinking is essential to ones development. It lays a foundation to acquire knowl- edge and skills that are used to solve many problems, not only in school, but also to execute tasks and make decisions. Nowadays, interactive technologies have a potential to be applied in education and are presented as a facilitator in both learning and teaching activities. This paper aims to present an application of an approach to analyze the logical thinking development with computer aid. To do so, we developed and applied a test environment to two student groups to assess any improvement in learning and, conse- quently, in logical thinking. The results pointed out to a visible development of students logical thinking, showing that they did not have any difficulties to execute the proposed tasks. This allowed us to build an illustrated view of thought trainings that help them to achieve their goals and make decisions. This paper also highlights the importance of using computational tools to support teachers in classrooms and to stimulate the development of logical thinking. Among all the available information, logical thinking is essential to ones development. It lays a foundation to acquire knowl- edge and mathematical abilities, to analyze information, to solve problems, and to develop oneself both creative and intellectually [1]. The development of logical thinking may help students not only in school, but also to better execute daily tasks, improving their concentration and performance in games and cultural, collective, and social activities. It helps them to better organize how they think, providing a clearer vision of how things happen and in what order. Specialists say that, as it happens with any muscle to remain in shape, the brain needs to be regularly exercised. Developing childrens logical thinking is important because it makes them think more critically, which in turn makes them more prone to present arguments based on a number of criteria and in logically valid principles [2]. Computers can be useful tools when it comes to stimulate the development of logical thinking. When it is used to pass on information to a student, the computer takes the role of a teaching machine and the pedagogical approach is a computer-aid instruction [3]. B.L.
