Most research on crime studies focus on social factor and it is often being a main reason of having burglary in residential area however, few take the responsibility of spatial layout pattern against crime. The layout of housing plays an important role to influence the incidence of crime and has to be considered. This research study proposes to examine the connectivity between housing layout in urban area and crime activity of burglary using GIS as tools of analysis. Study was conducted in several types of residential areas in Shah Alam Selangor and selected due to the crime rate report in order to distinguish all. The characteristics of housing layout such as open space, degree of road accessibility, environmental characteristics, and housing facilities are the main assessment in the course of this study. The result found that houses which faces along the main road, near the entrance of the residential area, poor surrounding landscape of housing and poor facilities inherent the high crime rate of burglary in Shah Alam. The road accessibility becomes an interesting feature in this study as nearer the house to the main road, the more vulnerable and attention for areas of housing with high tendency toward the occurrence of the crime of burglary. INTRODUCTION The law of nature when people trying to be a rebel by do any crime even though it is definitely out from the humanitarian rules. Meanwhile, in these past of years, there is increase types of crime around the world such as crime of violence, murder, and aggravated assault. It is start with the concept which is including the people who are influenced in the lives of potential offenders. In this case, there might be parents, siblings, closes friend, peers and other similarly placed individuals. Target or victims is come after where they try to protect themselves from theft and potential victims from attack and assault. Finally, consider places where crimes happen at the locations either opens or closed area depends on the situation. Burglary is one of criminal type and it is difficult to identify the caused. There is the question of whether it is caused by the negligence of the individual or cunning criminals themselves. The other factor also may be wondered that spatial factors may be the real cause of burglary. Areas often threatened definitely the area that has a low level of security, but there are several reports states that the areas with high levels of security are still a victim of this crime activity (PDRM, 2012).
