The Ijaws are the 4th largest in the federation, with a population of over seven million among other minority ethnic groups in the area include; the Itsekiri Isoko, Ogoni, Urhobo, Ikwere, Ika, Ukwuani, Abua, Egbema etc. The Ijaw land is blessed with natural resources within the Ijaw territory that contribute significantly to the growth of Nigeria’s economy. This paper, therefore, interrogated the minority right agitation in the NDR through the various phases namely: colonial, post- colonial and the present and as well as realities and illusions of iconic Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro agitations. The theoretical framework adopted is Marxian theory of the state as its guiding framework of analysis propounded by Karl Marx (1818-1883) and applied secondary source of data collection.
