This research is a quantitative research using the true experiment pretest-posttest control group design that conducted at Muhammadiyah 5 Junior high school Surabaya. The samples in the experimental class and control class each consisted of 23 students. Data collection techniques using pretest/posttest questions about mathematical literacy skills and student questionnaire responses. The results showed that: (1) The average mathematical literacy ability of the control class was 66.74 with a standard deviation of 8.637 and the increase was in the medium category, that is 0.44; (2) The average mathematical literacy ability of the experimental class is 75.91 with a standard deviation of 11.015 with an increase including the medium category that is 0.58; (3) The results of the t test on the posttest of mathematical literacy ability obtained by the value of ℎ > is 2.053> 2.0153 so that there is an influence of the MHM approach to mathematical literacy ability. Furthermore, the average increases in mathematical literacy skills in the experimental and control classes were 0.58 and 0.44, then the mathematical literacy abilities in the experimental class were greater than the control class; and (4) 74.78% of students respond positively to mathematics learning using the MHM approach. Keywords: Mathematical Habits of Mind approach, mathematical literacy skills Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan pengaruh Pendekatan Mathematical Habits of Mind(MHM)terhadap kemampuan literasi matematika dan respon peserta didik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode True Eksperiment Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design yang dilakukan di SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surabaya. Sampel pada penelitian kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol masing-masing terdiri dari 23 peserta didik. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan soal pretest/posttest kemampuan literasi matematika dan angket respon peserta didik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Rata-rata kemampuan literasi matematika kelas kontrol sebesar 66,74 dengan standar deviasi 8,637 dan peningkatannya termasuk kategori sedang yaitu 0,44; (2) Rata-rata kemampuan literasi matematika kelas eksperimensebesar 75,91 dengan standar deviasi 11,015 dengan peningkatan termasuk kategori sedang yaitu 0,58;(3) Hasil uji t terhadap posttest kemampuan literasi matematika diperoleh nilai ℎ > yaitu 2.053 > 2.0153 sehingga terdapat pengaruh pendekatan MHM terhadap kemampuan literasi matematika. Lebih lanjut,rata-rata peningkatan kemampuan literasi matematika di kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol berturut-turut adalah 0,58 dan 0,44sehingga kemampuan literasi matematika di kelas eksperimen lebih besar daripada kelas kontrol; dan (4) Sebesar 74,78% peserta didik merespon postif terhadap pembelajaran matematika dengan pendekatan MHM.
