ABSTRACT Thisresearchwasmeanttocomparetheeffectofatraditionalhomebleachingsystem(Vitastyle10%- Ivoclar-Vivadent) with a do- it-yourself dental bleaching system (Simply White®- Colgate) in a Venezuelan femalesamplingpopulation.Methods:Twelve,18-25yearsoldfemaledentistrystudentswereinvolved.The initialvitashadewasrecordedforeachupperfronttooth;bothbleachingagentswereusedineachupperhe- mi-arch(randomlyassigned)for15daysfollowingthemanufacture’sinstructions.Threedaysafterthebleach- ingperiodsended,theshadeofeachuppertoothwasrecorded.OnewayANOVAwasusedtodetectstatis- tical differences. Results: There were no statistically significant differences (p=1) between the two dental bleachingsystems;however,ameanincreaseofthevalueinthreeshadesofthevitaguidewerefoundfor both bleaching methods. Conclusion: Under the conditions of this study, both dental bleaching systems showedthesameefficiencyincreasingthevalueofupperteethafter15daysofhomebleaching.
