De esta manera, Schelling no deja de ser un «vástago» del Pantheismusstreit de Mendelssohn y Jacobi: una polémica cuyo fantasma, personificado por Schlegel, aparecerá entre las páginas del Freiheitsschrift. Abstract: Since the controversy held between Jacobi and Mendelssohn in 1785 about the assumption Spinozism of Lessing, has been considered that system of reason, fatalism and pantheism (and with it Spinozism as the most perfect way) constitute a triad of inseparable concepts, hence the assertion key of Schlegel in Indierbuch: «der Pantheismus ist das System der reinen Vernunft» (KA VIII, 249; Qu. by Sche- lling in SW I/VII 339, n. a; 117). In this way, Schelling is within Mendelssohn and Jacobi’s Pantheismusstreit: a controversy whose ghost, personified by Schlegel, appears in the pages of Freiheitsschrift. En carta a Fries, el 29 de julio de 1808, Jacobi escribe: «Lo que Schlegel ha dicho en su Indierbuch de la filosofía del Uno y Todo ha debido corroer a Schelling» 1 . Efectivamente, así fue. Schelling escribe a su buen amigo Schubert del 28 de abril de 1809 —un mes más tarde de la fecha de datación del prólogo del Freiheitsschrift, el 31 de marzo—: «Por lo que me concierne, Friedrich Schlegel ha creído poder describirme con su grosero retrato, extre- madamente general e incompleto, del panteísmo. Desde hace tiempo, él y sus partidarios difundieron verbalmente entre la plebe de la literatura filosófica esta misma idea acerca de mi sistema.
