Temeljni generatori današnjih promjena i nove fizičke i urbane, strukture istarskog prostora su gradovi Pula, Poreč, Rovinj, Umag i Labin u priobalju te Pazin, Buje i Buzet u unutrašnjem prostoru istarskog poluotoka. Na temelju analize kretanja broja stanovnika, dnevnih migracija, prostornog razmje- štaja gradova i općina, udjela zaposlenih u tercijarnom sektoru, stupnja deagrarizacija i sl. izvršeno je prostorno-demografsko vrednovanje 636 naselja Istarske županije. Ključne riječi: Istarska županija, polarizacija, prostorno - demografsko vredno- vanje Processes in Istria County in connection with the process of urban polarization Istria County is an area of clearly expressed polarization processes. Basic genera- tors of present changes and new phisical and urban structures are towns of Pula, Poreč, Rovinj, Umag and Labin at the seaside and Pazin, Buje i Buzet in the inland of Istrian peninsula. Based on the analysis of the population trend, daily commuting pattern, spatial distribution of towns and municipalities, percentage of workes employed in third sector, degree of deagrarization etc. spatial and demographical evaluation of 636 settlements in Istria County has been presented.
