Rocha 3 Resumo: esta pesquisa analisa e identifica diferenças e similaridades entre os processos de patrimonialização das práticas esportivas do Hurling (UNESCO, 2018) e do Bola Pesada (Niterói, RJ, 2015). Objetiva estabelecer e ressaltar a estreita relação entre a patrimonialização dos bens imateriais do patrimônio esportivo e sua salvaguarda. Por meio de pesquisa documental e de visitas técnicas, traça um comparativo entre os processos estabelecidos pela UNESCO e pelo município de Niterói, sob o prisma de suas motivações e da documentação apresentada frente às exigências e às diferentes metodologias adotadas por cada uma dessas instâncias. Conclui que o mero decreto de um bem como patrimônio não irá atingir o objetivo maior da patrimonialização: a salvaguarda e a transmissão futura deste patrimônio cultural. Abstract: This research examines the differences and similarities between the processes that culminate in the patrimonialization of the sports of Hurling (UNESCO, 2018) and Bola Pesada (Niterói, RJ, 2015). Aims to establish and emphasize the central relationship between the patrimonialization of sporting immaterial heritage and its safeguard. Through documentary research and technical visits, draws a comparison between the established UNESCO process and the process set by the administration of the city of Niterói, concerning its motivations and the documentation presented meeting the UNESCO and the Niterói’s administration requirements. Concludes that by the mere patrimonialization, through a process disconnected of community engagement and wanting research and documentation, will not achieve its highest goal: the safeguarding and future transmission of this cultural heritage. Resumen: Esta investigación examina las diferencias y similitudes entre los procesos de patrimonialización de los deportes de Hurling (UNESCO, 2018) y Bola Pesada (Niterói, RJ, 2015). Tiene como objetivo establecer y enfatizar la relación central entre la patrimonialización del patrimonio inmaterial deportivo y su salvaguardia. A través de investigaciones documentales y visitas técnicas, se hace una comparación entre el proceso establecido por la UNESCO y el proceso establecido por la administración de Niterói, en relación con sus motivaciones y la documentación presentada.
