Eda ALPER 1 1 Yıldız Technical University, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Depertmant of Mechanical Engineering, 34349-Besiktas / Istanbul Article Info: Graphical/Tabular Abstract In this study, by using the systematic construction approach developed by Pahl and Beitz, conceptual design has been made by finding the optimum design option for the design of a new hydrotherapy exercise device. Figure A illustrates this conceptual design option. Figure A. Conceptual Design of Hydrotherapy Exercise Device Purpose: In this study, it is aimed to make a conceptual design for a hydrotherapy exercise with a systematic construction approach in order to realize the most useful, most useful, most economical and best looking product by following certain principles and rules. Theory and Methods: In order to create a conceptual design for hydrotherapy exercise, firstly, the clarification and analysis of the technical task was made and the requirements list was created. Then, the main structure and sub-functions were determined by passing on to the function structure. Then the solution methods for each function are defined. Solution methods for conceptual design were evaluated technically and economically. Results: As a result of combining the solutions for different functions of hydrotherapy exercise device 24 conceptual design option was determined. The highest scoring option was selected for the concept design according to the criteria specified in the objectives tree and at the end of the evaluation. Conclusion: In this study, optimum solution was achieved by methodical steps by using systematic construction approach. The conceptual design of hydrotherapy exercise device that was created by applying this approach is a new design that can run multiple muscle groups at the same time and can be used for physical therapy purposes.
