The attempt has been made examining and resituating term Management and to discuss the necessary characteristic of Managers as a Leader, the Ethical Leader, Organisation as a whole and how followers should behave to make organisation successful. Sophisticated know-how and ‘hi-tech’ would unvaryingly necessitate organization to adopt ‘hi- touch’ of people, therefore notion of management has to discoursed, reconsidered and demarcated. After observations in ancient textures and especially teachings of Swami Vivekanand and in remembrance from Bhagwat Geeta, various factors which leads to understand the term Management were shaped in the form of statement on Likert Scale. Key Words- Human, Technology, Management, Charisma, Leader. Opening: - The triumphs in advanced and industrially progressive nations have showed that successes come originally due to two factors; viz- Technology and Collaborative Human Resources. Various studies like Whyte’s “The Organization Man” (1956) 1 , Argyris’s “Personality and Organisation” (1957) 2 have revealed that outcomes can be attained in structural sceneries by assimilating People and Technology. Management consequently emphases its courtesy on both i.e. Technology and People. Worried to modification of Indian society from agrarian to dynamic industrial society so far, debauched we have given attention to technological aspect of management only. With rising inventions in, and use of technology supported by with ample daily examples, there is no doubt that daily advancing technology whether in the form of computers, laptops, and internet enabled gadgets, smart phones, robots, artificial intelligent equipment, telecommunication devices, wi-fi enabled transportation and constructions, infrastructure industry, 3D printing, mining, robotic medical facilities, pharma-tech, vaccination, hybrid cars, bio- genetics, bio-engineering, office automation, factory automation, etc. etc. are of immeasurable qualitative importance. Captions and excitement driven technology also creates the vision for entrepreneurship and innovation. 3 (Drucker) But it is important to understand that the problems we are facing today cannot be solved by only scientific and technical advancements. The solution is in world of ‘people’ rather than in world of ‘things’. The reason for failure is primarily not the technology and its adaptation but the inability to secure cooperation of and understanding with ‘others’. It is precisely advised that management is not a mechanical course but a study of people. 4 (Mayo, 1945) The Incidental: As we contemplate the stimulating complications in the managing of establishments like corporate, government, seminary and family, we comprehend that the success of our institutions is straight reliant on the effective use of human resources- our people. Persons are the utmost and vibrant resource in the entire course of wealth generation. It is people who can turn grit into gold. Germane remark by Pascale and Athos on management pointed out that: Today, world competition poses an organisational challenge that cannot be met simply by technology or financial resources. Technological innovations and resources allocation are outcomes of human process. Our success is not inevitable. Our ability to complete rests on our ability to organize human beings in such a way as to generate opportunity and results, rather than impasses, stagnation, bureaucracy, and wasteful friction. 5 (Pascale & Athos, 1981) Great Greek philosopher, Heraclitus said that man is the measure of all things. 6 (Russell, 1945). Niccolo Machiavelli’s opinion on significance of good soldiers i.e. people, is also worth citing. He said: “I maintain, then, contrary to the general opinion, that the sinews of war are not gold, but good soldiers; for gold alone will not procure good soldiers, but good soldiers will always procure gold. ”. 7 (Machiavelli) Therefore, it is palpable that however technology and structure unquestionably make the labour and mind more efficient, the rises in efficiency and effectiveness of all establishments arise by reaching the hearts and temperaments of people, by soliciting their generous co-operation. The problem is not technology, but, people. Transference of cutting-edge technology is informal and can be hired, rented or bought. But the change and development of ‘software of people’ is difficult to be imparted or imported. Every society progress on its own. Ideas and designs can be bought, plagiarised or stolen, but application and implementation of the same has to be indigenous; because the culture sprouts only in the aboriginal loam. Drucker rightly pointed:
