Tujuan dari Penelitian ini adalah mengestimasi jumlah biomasa tumbuhan hidup dan nekromasa tumbuhan dan sisa bahan organik tumbuhan yang telah mati pada beberapa tipe tutupan lahan dan membandingkan jumlah biomasa dan nekromasa dari beberapa tipe tutupan lahan tersebut. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode quantitatif dengan mengukur berbagai sampel biomasa dan nekromasa pada beberapa tipe hutan. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan nilai total estimasi biomasa tegakan dan karbon tertinggi pada hutan primer Gunung Meja dengan nilai biomasa tegakan 650 ton/Ha dan karbon tersimpan sebesar 299 ton/Ha. Sementara nilai akumulasi terendah diperoleh pada hutan bekas perladangan Sowi Gunung. Nilai nekromasa serasah tertinggi diperoleh pada hutan sekunder tua Aipiri sebesar 7,33 Mg h -1 , sementara nekromasa serasah terendah diperoleh di hutan Sowi Gunung sebesar 1,5 Mg h -1 . Nilai nekromasa dan karbon dari sisa kayu mati dan tunggak tertinggi diperoleh pada hutan sekunder tua Aipiri masing-masing sebesar 23,5 ton/Ha dan 10,81 ton/Ha. Sementara nilai terendah diperoleh pada hutan primer Gunung Meja 14,1 ton/Ha dan 6,486 ton/Ha. Tingginya variasi tersebut mengindikasikan perbedaan tipe hutan, tingkat kerapatan tegakan, tutupan hutan, rata-rata suhu dan kelembaban, intensitas cahaya. This study aimed at estimating amount of living biomass and necromass as well as died organic materials from plant in several forest type areas and comparing these parameters in order to know each forest type ability in sequestering and sinking carbon. The study has implemented quantitative method by measuring a number of biomass and necromass samples in the field. The result pointed out the highest amount of standing biomass and carbon sequestration was at Gunung Meja (primary forest) with 650 ton/Ha and carbon sequestration of 299 ton/Ha. while the lowest amount of accumulation was found at Sowi Gunung (farming land). In addition to necromass, the highest amount was seen at Aipiri (secondary forest) about 7.33 Mg h -1 , and the lowest was indicated at Sowi Gunung of 1.5 Mg h -1 . The highest amount of necromass and carbon from dead wood and stump was found at Aipiri (secondary forest) with the amount of 23.5 ton/Ha and 10.81 ton/Ha respectively. On the flip side, the lowest amount was indicated at Gunung Meja (primary forest) with 14.1 ton/Ha and 6.486 ton/Ha respectively. The likelihood of high variation was designated the differentiation of forest types, standing density rate, forest cover, the average of temperature and humidity, and light intensity.
