Mehmed Emin Üsküdârî’nin Sonsuzluğa Dair Şerhu’l-Berâhîni’l-hamse Adlı Risalesinin Tahlil ve Tahkiki * M. Necmeddin Beşikci ** Özet: Bu makale, on sekizinci yüzyıl Osmanlı-Türk nazarî düşüncesinin önde gelen isimlerinden Mehmed Emin Üsküa - dârî’nin (ö. 1149/1736-37) uzaklıkların (mekândaki uzanımların) sonluluğu ve teselsülün geçersizliği problemlerine ilişkin kaleme aldığı Şerhu’l-Berâhîni’l-hamse risalesini şekil ve muhteva açısından incelemektedir. Sonsuzluk problemi çok katman- lı bir yapıya sahip olup isbât-ı vâcib başta olmak üzere teolojik, epistemolojik, ontolojik, ve kozmolojik birçok meselenin dayanak noktasını oluşturmaktadır. Erken dönemlerden itibaren farklı düşünce geleneklerine mensup âlimler tarafından ele alınan sonsuzluk problemi, müteahhir dönemde müstakil risalelerin telif edildiği kozmopolit bir kelâm-felsefe geleneği haline gelmiştir. Müteahhir dönemin son temsilcilerinden Mehmed Emin Üsküdârî de bu konuya dair müstakil eser veren âlimlerden olmuştur. Söz konusu risale, sonsuzluk probleminin Osmanlı entelektüel düşüncesindeki konumunu ve izlerini görebilmek adına önemlidir. Üsküdârî, risalesinde uzaklıkların sonsuzluğu tartışmalarında burhân-ı süllemî ve burhân-ı müsâmeteyi; teselsül tartışmalarında ise burhân-ı tatbîk, burhân-ı tezâyüf, burhân-ı ‘arşî ve beraberinde Mirzâcân Şîrâzî (ö. 995/1587) tarafından zikredilen iki farklı burhânı esas almaktadır. Müellif, bu bağlamda konuya ilişkin zikredilen burhânların muhtasar ve müfit bir sunumunu yapmış ve anlatılan bazı hususları geometrik temsillerle desteklemiştir. De- ğerlendirme ve tahkik olmak üzere iki ana bölümden oluşan bu makale, müellifin zikri geçen burhânlara ilişkin değerlendir- melerini, ilgili burhânların tarihî serencamını ve süreklilik ve değişim noktasındaki farklılıklarını incelemektedir. Abstract: Tis article examines the form and content of Sharh al-Barāhīn al-khamsah, written by Mehmed Emīn Üsküdārī (d. 1149/1736-37), an important fgure of eighteenth-century Ottoman Turkish theoretical thought, on the problems of the fnitude of extensions and the invalidity of infnite regress. Te subject of infnity is a multi-layered structure and is the mainstay of many theological questions such as the demonstrations for the existence of necessary existent as well as many other epistemological, ontological, and cosmological issues. Tis question concerned Peripatetic falāsifa and mutakallimūn from diferent intellectual traditions since the early period and became a cosmopolitan theological and philosophical tradition in which distinct epistles were compiled by scholars of the later period (mutaʾakhkhirūn). One of the last representatives of this period, Mehmed Emīn Üsküdārī, authored such an epistle on this question. Tis treatise is important with respect to seeing the importance and refection of the infnity question in Ottoman intellectual thought. In addition to the ladder (burhān al-sullamī) and collimation (burhān al-musāmata) demonstrations for the discussions on the infnity of extensions, this epistle also uses the mapping (burhān al-tatbīq), correlation (burhān al-tadāyuf), and throne (al-burhān al-‘arshī) demonstrations as well as two other demonstrations mentioned by the Persian Mīrzā Jān Shīrāzī (d. 995/1587) for the discussions of infnite regress. In this context, Üsküdārī made a short and concise presentation of these above demonstrations, supporting some of them with geometric diagrams. Tis article consists of i) an analysis and ii) critical edition as its two main features and examines Üsküdārī’s evaluations on the aforementioned demonstrations, their historical background, and their diferences and similarities in terms of novelty and continuity.
