To prepare the AuNP-seeded particles, AuNP-seeded PDMS microparticles were simply produced in situ by the reduction of a PDMS curing agent without the use of any additional reducing agents. The resultant AuNP-seeded PDMS microparticles were further reacted with sodium citrate and gold chloride to synthesize AuNP clusters on the PDMS microparticle surfaces. The synthesized AuNP-coated PDMS micro- particles were extensively characterized using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diraction, X-ray photo- electron spectroscopy, and UVvis absorption spectroscopy. Notably, the surface coverage of AuNPs on the PDMS microparticles could be easily controlled using this proposed method. http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.colsurfa.2017.07.003 Received 8 June 2017; Received in revised form 3 July 2017; Accepted 4 July 2017 Corresponding author.
