Tujuan dari penelitian ini (1) Bagaimana kondisi krisis ekonomi di Banyumas tahun 1930-1935, (2) mengetahui dampak krisis ekonomi di Banyumas tahun 1935-1937. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian sejarah yang mencakup empat hal yaitu, heuristik, kritik sumber, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini mencakup studi pustaka, observasi, wawancara, dan dokumen. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa perpindahan pusat pemerintahan dari Banyumas ke Purwokerto pada tahun 1937 diakibatknan oleh krisis ekonomi pada tahun 1930-1935 yang disebut dengan Malaise. Perpindahan pusat pemerintahan dari Banyumas ke Purwokerto memberikan dampak yang sangat baik karena yang sebelumnya berada di Banyumas dengan keadaan Banyumas yang terisolasi oleh pegunungan tidak berkembang. Abstract ___________________________________________________________________ The transfer of the central government from Banyumas to Purwokerto was caused by the economic crisis of 1930-1935, because of the financial capability of the Dutch colonial government which was no longer able to finance the economic budget due to the economic crisis of the 1930s era. The purpose of this research is (1) What is the condition of economic crisis in Banyumas 1930-1935, (2) How the impact of the economic crisis in Banyumas 1935-1937. This research used history research method that covered 4 things that were heuristic, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The data collection in this research covered book study, observation, interview, and document. The result of this research showed that the transfer of central government from Banyumas to Purwokerto in 1937 was caused by economic crisis in 1930-1935 that was called with Malaise.
