Abstract
In this study, we looked at how the efect of diferent seedling ages on growth and carrageenan
content of Kappaphycus alvarezii.. Macroalgae was cultivated using the longline method from
four diferent agetreatments of seedlings. The results showed that there was a signifcant ef-
fect (p<0.05) on the growth and content of carrageenan. The highest absolute growth average
was at 30 days of seedling age (335.7g) and the lowest was at 0 day of seedling age (145.4g).
Meanwhile, the highest daily growth rate of K. alvarezii was 30 days of seedling (6.53%day-
1) and the lowest was at 0 day of seedling age (1.63%day-1). Meanwhile, the highest car-
rageenan content was at 30 days of seedling (53.84%) and the lowest was at 0 day of seedling
age (10.20%).
