Materials
3-mercaptopropyl trimethoxysilane (MPS) was purchased from Lancaster (UK). Fluorescent dyes
were purchased from ATTO-TEC (Siegem, Germany). All solvents; acetone, chloroform, ethanol
(EtOH), tetrahydrofuran (THF), dimethylformamide (DMF) and toluene were analytical grade.
Fluorescein-labeled bovine serum albumin (BSA) and Immunoglobulin Gamma (IgG) were
purchased from Sigma Aldrich and Streptavidin Phycoerthrin (SAPE) was purchased from
Invitrogen. All other reagents were purchased from Sigma Aldrich of the highest purity available
and used as received. 2-ethyl sulfonyl thiocarbonyl 2-methyl propionic acid (EMP) chain transfer
agent (CTA) was synthesized according to the procedure outlined in Convertine et al.
