During the war, Russia came into close contact with the Kurdish and Nestorian tribes residing in the region in order to occupy the Hakkari environs. As a result of this contact, Kurdish and Nestorian tribes rebelled against the Ottoman central authority and indirectly against England under the leadership of Croatian Mehmet Ağa and Patriarch Mar Şimun, allied with Russia, which they thought was the new ruler of the region. During the rebellion, Kurdish and Nestorian tribes acted together. The rebellion is remarkable because it took place shortly after Bedirhan Bey's military operations against the Nestorians of Hakkâri. Keywords: Kurds, Nestorians, Croat Mehmet Ağa. Özet: Özet Kırım Savaşı sırasında Hakkâri ve çevresinde etkili olan “Hırvatalı Mehmet Ağa İsyanı” gerek Osmanlı gerekse de İngiltere’ye ait dönemin arşiv vesikalarında oldukça geniş bir yer tutmuştur. Savaş sırasında Rusya, Hakkâri çevresini ele geçirmek amacıyla bölgede meskûn Kürt ve Nasturi aşiretleriyle yakın temasa geçmiştir. Söz konusu temasın bir sonucu Kürt ve Nasturi aşiretleri bölgenin yeni hâkimi olarak düşündükleri Rusya’nın yanında Hırvatalı Mehmet Ağa ve Patrik Mar Şimun öncülüğünde Osmanlı merkez otoritesine ve dolaylı olarak İngiltere’ye karşı isyan etmişlerdir. İsyan sırasında Kürt ve Nasturi aşiretleri birlikte hareket etmişlerdir. İsyanın Kürt-Nasturi ilişkileri açısından bir dönüm noktası olarak kabul edilen Cizre mütesellimi Bedirhan Bey’in 1840’lı yıllarda bazı Nasturi aşiretleri üzerine düzenlediği askerî harekâtlardan kısa bir süre sonra meydan gelmiş olması yönüyle oldukça dikkat çekicidir.
