This article discusses continuing professional development of LIS personnel and it emphasises the importance of training and development in the South African LIS sector. Since there is no structured framework for continuing professional development of the LIS personnel in South Africa, this article explores what is available in order to come up with a suitable framework for continuing professional development that can be used in South Africa.
