(0370) 6573874, Fax. (0370) 6573841 Email : namaku_stia@yahoo.com ABSTRACT The variety of agarwood production in the Gyrinops versteegii plant is one of the main problems in the agarwood cultivation. Efforts to reduce the variation is by cultivating high agarwood production through vegetative propagation, thus the results of the agarwood are expected to be more consistent. Shoot cuttings are the most inexpensive and easy vegetative propagation, however some studies showed a low success propagation rate especially for Gyrinops versteegii. Several factors determine the succed of shoot cuttings propagation i.e: media of rooting and hormon application. Therefore, research to improve the success of G. versteegii shoot cuttings should be conducted.. Based on those issues, the research aimed to determine the influence of the rooting media and hormone on the shoot cutting of Gyrinops verteegii. This study used a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with six media treatments they are soils, soil+compost (3:1), cocopeat+sand (1:1), cocopeat+sand+ compost (1:1:2), soil+cocopeat+sand (2:1:1), and soil+cocopeat+sand+compost (5:3:3:4). IBA and NAA hormones with a concentration of 100 ppm, 200 ppm, 300 ppm and 0 ppm (control) were used in this study. The results showed that the success of shoot cuttings was influenced by the media and hormones; where the best rooting found on the shoot cuttings using soil as media and 200 ppm IBA. Keywords: Shot cutting, gaharu, rooting media, hormone ABSTRAK Bervariasinya produksi gaharu pada tanaman Gyrinops versteegii merupakan salah satu permasalahan utama dalam pembudidayaan gaharu. Upaya menekan variasi produksi gaharu adalah budidaya jenis tersebut yang sudah mempunyai poduksi gaharu tinggi melalui perbanyakan vegetatif, sehingga hasil gaharu yang diharapkan akan lebih konsisten. Stek pucuk merupakan perbanyakan vegetatif yang paling murah dan mudah, namun demikian beberapa penelitian menunjukkan tingkat keberhasilan yang masih rendah terutama untuk jenis Gyrinops versteegii . Penggunaan media akar dan pemberian hormon yang tepat merupakan faktor yang menentukan keberhasilan perbanyakan stek pucuk. Penelitian untuk meningkatkan keberhasilan stek pucuk G. versteegii perlu dilakukan. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mengetahui tingkat keberhasilan stek pucuk tanaman G. versteegii dengan perlakuan pemberian hormon perakaran dan media akar. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap berkelompok (randomized complete block design/RCBD) dengan enam perlakuan media yaitu tanah, tanah+pupuk organik (3:1), cocopeat+pasir (1:1), cocopeat+pasir+pupuk organik (1:1:2), tanah+cocopeat+pasir (2:1:1), dan tanah+cocopeat+pasir+pupuk organik (5:3:3:4). Hormon IBA dan NAA dengan konsentrasi 100 ppm, 200 ppm, 300 ppm serta kontrol 0 ppm digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keberhasilan stek pucuk dipengaruhi oleh penggunaan media dan hormon; dimana perakaran terbaik ditemukan pada stek pucuk dengan media tanah dan penggunaan IBA konsentrasi 200 ppm.
