Parmon, full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, is made. Keywords: academician V.N. Parmon, bibliometric and thematic analysis of publications, databases, Chem- ical Abstracts Plus (CAplus), Web of Science (WoS), Scopus, Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) DOI: 10.1134/S0023158418050063 INTRODUCTION On April 18, 2018, Valentin Nikolayevich Parmon, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, Academi- cian of the Russian Academy of Sciences, celebrated his 70th birthday. At present he is the vice-president of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) [1], chair- man of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SB RAS) [2], scientific adviser of Bore- skov Institute of Catalysis SB RAS [3] (in 1995–2015, he was the director of this institute), Head of the Chair of Physical Chemistry at the Department of Natural Science of Novosibirsk State University [4]. However, first of all, V.N. Parmon is a researcher who published about one thousand five hundred scientific papers. According to the CRIS system of the SB RAS [5], the list of published works by V.N. Parmon consists of 1437 publications, including 1073 journal articles, 86 papers in volumes of collected articles, 10 books, 268 patents, and others. Most of them are reflected in respected international and national databases on sci- entific and technical information and accessible by professionals worldwide. V.N. Parmon’s works have received wide recognition (for example, [6–8]) as reflected in numerous titles and awards, including the prestigious international Global Energy award [9]. Their bibliometric and thematic analysis is undoubt- edly of great scientific interest. In this article, this analysis was carried out using global bibliographic databases Web of Science (WoS) [10], Scopus [11] and Chemical Abstracts Plus (CAplus) on SciFinder plat- form [12], and the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) [13]. INFORMATION SOURCES AND METHODOLOGY Databases used in this work are characterized in Table 1. Their coverages in terms of sources and time, functionalities, and analytical potential differ. In many respects, these databases complement each other, and their combined use provides a more complete data coverage and analysis than the separate use of any of them. A search for publications by V.N. Parmon in these databases was carried out in the end of March, 2018. RESULST AND DISCUSSION The number of publications found in the databases is presented in Table 2, and their distribution over years is shown in Fig. 1. The earliest works are dated 1972. They are devoted to electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy and are affiliated with the Insti- tute of Chemical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The distribution of publications by type is pre- sented in Table 3. Journal articles dominate, and there are relatively many reviews and patents. According to the CAplus database, there are 170 USSR and Russian
