USULAN PERBAIKAN SISTEM MATERIAL HANDLING EQUIPMENT PADA LANTAI PRODUKSI KAIN GREY UNTUK MEMINIMASI WASTE TRANSPORTATION DI PT BUANA INTAN GEMILANG MENGGUNAKAN PENDEKATAN LEAN MANUFACTURING IMPROVEMENT PROPOSAL OF MATERIAL HANDLING SYSTEMS IN PRODUCTION FLOOR GREY FABRIC TO MINIMIZE WASTE TRANSPORTATION IN PT. Saat ini PT Buana Intan Gemilang mengalami permasalahan pada proses produksi kain grey, yakni belum dapat memenuhi target realisasi permintaan konsumen secara tepat waktu. Ditemukan waste transportation pada proses produksi yang terjadi di lantai produksi, yang mempengaruhi pencapaian target realisasi produksi. Berdasarkan data perusahaan, target realisasi produksi kain grey pada bulan Januari hingga Oktober tahun 2016 hanya mencapai 74%. Oleh karena itu dirancang suatu usulan perbaikan yang berguna untuk meminimasi waste transportation pada lantai produksi dengan pendekatan lean manufacturing. Tahap penelitian diawali dengan pengumpulan data yang akan dikelompokkan menjadi data primer, dan data sekunder. Kemudian diolah sehingga menghasilkan Value Stream Mapping (VSM), dan Process Activity Mapping (PAM) yang memberikan informasi mengenai aliran informasi proses produksi serta material pada proses produksi kain grey. Tahap selanjutnya adalah identifikasi akar penyebab terjadinya waste transportation menggunakan fishbone diagram, dan 5 why. Tahap penyeleasaian masalah untuk setiap akar penyebab dari waste transportaion dapat menerapkan sistem prinsip material handling. Dengan menerapkan sistem prinsip material handling, dapat diberikan usulan berupa alokasi jumlah material handling equipment untuk tiap area, pengadaan pemeliharan material handling equipment pada jangka waktu tertentu, serta penerapan prinsip-prinsip material handling pada lantai produksi. Buana Intan Gemilang is one of the companies engaged in the textile manufacturing industry. Currently PT. Buana Intan Gemilang experience problems in the production of grey fabric, which has not been able to meet the target realization of consumer demand in a timely manner. Waste transportation found in the production process that occurs on the production floor, which affects the achievement of production realization targets. Based on company data, the realization target of gray cloth production in January to October of 2016 only reached 74%. Therefore it is designed a suggestion of improvement that is useful to minimize waste transportation on the production floor with lean manufacturing approach. The research phase begins with data collection that will be grouped into primary data, and secondary data. Then processed to produce Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and Process Activity Mapping (PAM) which provides information on the flow of production process information and materials on the production process gray fabric. The next step is to identify the root cause of waste transportation using fishbone diagram, and 5 why. The problem solving stage for each root cause of waste transportation can apply material handling principle system. By applying the material handling principle system, it can be proposed in the form of allocation of material handling equipment for each area, procurement of material handling equipment maintenance for a certain period, and application of material handling principles on production floor.
