Announcement of population data Thai population data on nine tetrameric STR loci Ð D3S1358, vWA, FGA, TH01, TPOX, CSF1PO, D5S818, D13S317 and D7S820 Wasun Chantratita a,* , Budsaba Rerkamnuaychoke a , Ubonrat Jomsawat a , Janpen Thanakitgosate a , Tharathip Ruangvithayanon b , Porntip Rojanasunan a a Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Mahidol, Bangkok, Thailand b Clinical Pathology Section, Regional Medical Science Center Nakhonrachasima, Department of Medical Science, Ministry of Public Health, Nakhonrachasima, Thailand Received 11 February 2000; received in revised form 25 May 2000; accepted 8 June 2000 Abstract Allele frequencies for the nine STR loci included in the AmpFlSTR Pro®ler kit were determined in a Thai population of 100 unrelated individuals. # 2001 Elsevier Science Ireland Ltd. All rights reserved. Keywords: Short tandem repeat; Thai; AmpFlSTR Pro®ler Population: Unrelated individuals who requested for paternity testing. Extraction: Qiagen kit. PCR: An amount of 2.5 ng DNA following man- ufacturer's manual (AmpFlSTR Pro®ler PCR ampli- ®cation kit, PE Applied Biosystems). Typing: ABI 310 and reference sequenced ladders (PE Applied Biosystems). Results: See Table 1. Quality control: Control human DNA cell line 9947A. The genotype of this female DNA is D3S1358 14,15; vWA 17,18; FGA 23,24; D8S1179 13,13; D21S11 30,30; D18S51 15,19; D5S818 11,11; D13S317 11,11; D7S820 10,11. Analysis of data: Observed heterozygosity (H), power of discrimination (PD), power of exclusion (PE) and P, p-value, were calculated [1±3]. Access to the data: www.virusrama.org. Other remarks: The heterozygosity values of these nine STR loci amongst African-American, US Cau- casian and Thai show no remarkable differences. The allelic distributions of all nine STRs in the Thai population meet HWE and are similar to the reported Chinese, Korean, Austria and Portuguese [4±8].
