Arif Rahman Hakim 51 Surabaya arysujatmiko23@gmail.com atik.wahyuni@narotama.ac.id sapto.budi@narotama.ac.id Abstract Intersections are the meeting point of the road network which often creates various traffic barriers and one of them is traffic jam. Kertajaya Road intersection, Surabaya is one of the roads that connect west Surabaya - East Surabaya. During rush hour, the intersection of Kertajaya Road often experiences congestion which is caused by the growth in the number of vehicles every year which increases and is not accompanied by the construction of adequate road infrastructure. To overcome the traffic congestion and density, a good traffic management system is needed. The method used to solve problems that occur at this intersection is the Indonesian Road Capacity Manual (MKJI) method and using the Microsoft Excel 2013 program to process traffic data. Based on the results of the analysis of existing conditions in 2020 Wednesday in the level of service that is F with an average intersection delay of 246.21 sec / smp and whereas for existing conditions on Saturday the service level can be F with an average intersection delay of 216.71 sec / smp. Furthermore, repairing the intersection by rearranging the cycle time to get the level of service C with an average intersection delay of 22.52 sec / smp for Wednesday and the level of service C with an average intersection delay of 22.83 sec / smp for Saturday. By using these improvements, the intersection is analyzed using the traffic volume for the next 5 years and obtained the level of service on Wednesday intersections namely D for 2021-2025 and the level of service on Saturday intersections namely D for 2021-2025. Overview The intersection is a meeting point of the highway network which often causes various traffic barriers and one of them is traffic jam. Kertajaya Road intersection, Surabaya is one of the roads that connect west Surabaya - East Surabaya. The potential for high vehicles that pass through the intersection of Kertajaya Road which causes congestion is due to the presence of business centers, shopping centers, offices, and also state and private universities. During rush hour, Kertajaya crossing often experiences traffic jams which is caused by the growth in the number of vehicles every year which increases and is not accompanied by adequate road infrastructure development. To overcome the traffic congestion and traffic density, a good traffic management system is needed and is very influential on the smoothness, comfort, and safety for vehicle users. 1.2. Research Objectives This study aims to determine the performance of the current condition kertajaya intersection and to determine the performance of the intersection 5 years to come. 2. Literature Review 2.1. Definition of Intersections Intersection is a form of road meeting, where each intersection (end of a road / meeting with another road) has a movement of traffic, characteristics, geometric roads and certain conflicts that occur at an intersection. Problem identification shows the location of the traffic jam located at an intersection or a certain point that is located along a road segment. The problem of conflicting movements - the movement of vehicles that turn (turn right and meet straight) and control a lot of effect on the performance of the intersection which further causes the level of service to be reduced. Conflict of vehicles with vehicles or pedestrians will also cause delays, accidents and even congestion which will have a very detrimental effect on the driver or road users (Morlok Edward, 1991).
