This technology gives user a space where he can travel anywhere with the device and connectivity is still intact. Hence to allow this kind of transmission wireless communication is essential. Internet is a persuasive technology which provides transmission of voice, data and video using LAN, Bluetooth, GSM, GPRS and CDMA. Such transmission requires secure and movable connectivity which is provided by a standard Mobile Internet Protocol laid by Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) in the field of Mobile Computing. These protocols are well mentioned in IETF RFC 5944 for IPv4 and extensions are explained in IETF RFC 4721. Mobile IP is a communication protocol for dynamic devices (which moves from one place to other) to maintain connection irrespective of network area. This paper is all about Mobile IP issues, its background, functioning, advantages and conclusion. Keywords:-LAN, Bluetooth, GSM, GPRS, CDMA, Mobile IP INTRODUCTION Wireless transmission is a connection established through unguided media by using antennas where signals travel in the line of sight and spread over in the air. Mobile Computing is considered as Wireless transmission of data, voice and video via a computer or any other device. The main concept of Mobile Computing involves Mobile communication. Communication between two devices works on protocols. Current version of protocols works on the fact that connection point between the network and the host is fixed. Datagram are sent on the basis of networks address which is contained in the IP address. The location/network address may vary from 8bits to 24 bits depending upon its class in case of classful addressing. This network address is not the personal address of the host which it can carry from one point to another. Now the question arises if user or hosts move from one location to another and connection should be maintained. Hence, in case of mobile computing we need an internet protocol which enables: a) Secure Connection b) Connection should be maintained if user moves from one network to another. c) User should be free of any intricacies of network changing. The unique feature of Mobile IP is to allocate users routing of IP datagram on the Internet irrespective of their location. All mobile devices can independently move from one network to network without loss of connectivity. Each node is assigned a home address. When device tends to moves out of its designated home address it is allocated with a care-of address. This new temporary address identifies its current location. Home address is the registered address of its native network and care-of address will change automatically as the device moves from one network to another. Assigned home address stay associated with the local endpoint of a tunnel to its home agent. Hence, Mobile IP works on the
