Biodegrable composite made from more the one component. The composite is made by hand-layup technique. For cleaning of rice straw we are using hot water and 2% NaOH solution for removal of impurities like silica and ligning. The mechanical testing tensile strength, flexural strength, flexural modulus and young’s modulus test has been done with hot water treated fiber, NaOH treated fiber and untreated fiber with fiber volume fraction 0%, 10%, 20%,30%,40% and 50%. The bio degradable composite fabricated with Epoxy and Rice straw. All testing was done according to ISO and ASTM standard. Ó 2020 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. Introduction In all developing country rice is more consumable crop. Rice crop residuals are bio-degradable and light weight in nature. It is most suitable filler material for creating composite material [1,2]. This type of composite material is used in place of plastic material. Natural fibers have good mechanical property and having bio- degradable. This type of composite used for house construction and agricultural items. Rice crop production come second rank among the world. In last ten year rice production increased 17.56 million tones per year [2]. Production of residuals from rice will also increased by increasing the production rate of rice [4]. In many places these residuals burned this will cause the environmental pollution. Rice straws have many attractive properties such as low density, excellent mechanical property [3]. 2. Objectives The present work concentrates on fabrication and strength analysis of biodegradable composite. Biodegradable composites are made by hand layup technique using Epoxy resin H101 and hardener H101 with filler material Rice straw. The biodegradable composite developed with fiber volume frac- tion 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50%. The mechanical test was done according to ISO and ASTM standard. The properties were analyzed and compared with each other. 3. Experimental procedure 3.1. Preparation of test samples Rice straw collected from village area and chopped as per requirement as shown in Fig. 1. Rice straw is plant based natural fiber bio-degradable material. The natural fiber used as reinforcing material in composite material. The bond produced between the natural fiber and matrix is not perfect. In presence of ligning in nat- ural fiber causes poor bonding between the fibers and matrix. Because of poor bonding between the layer removal has occur. For prevention of this treatment of natural fiber is very much essential. Treatment of rice straw fiber has been done by 2% NaOH solution. After treatment of rice straw with NaOH solution cleaning has been done by fresh water and dried in sunlight for 8 h. Then rice straw fiber weighed 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% of epoxy. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.matpr.2020.08.299 2214-7853/Ó 2020 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
