Edum Journal, 4(1), 1-11 ABSTRAK Salah satu komponen indeks pembangunan manusia (IPM) adalah pendidikan. Kenyataan menunjukkan bahwa di Provinsi Jawa Barat angka putus sekolah masih tinggi. Solusi untuk mengatasi masalah siswa putus sekolah adalah PKBM. Atas dasar itu, penelitian ini memfokuskan kepada eksistensi keberadaan PKBM dan persepsi masyarakat tentang PKBM. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yakni metode deskriptif dan verifikatif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sedangkan teknik pengumpulan data dengan cara observasi langsung, wawancara dengan pihak terkait dan penyebaran angket (tertutup dan terstruktur). Angket disebarkan kepada 54 orang yang terdiri dari perangkat desa, orang tua siswa PKBM dan siswa PKBM yang usianya telah lebih dari 17 tahun. Penentuan jumlah sampel menggunakan rumus Slovin dengan teknik pengambilan sampel secara simple random sampling. Pengolahan hasil penelitian menggunakan teknik analisis regresi. Uji signifikansi menggunakan uji-F. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Kondisi PKBM sudah termasuk baik, jika dilihat dari partisipasi masyarakat, kebermanfaatan dan kemandirian, kecuali dilihat dari relevansi skornya paling kecil dibandingkan dimensi lainnya, karena program yang diselenggarakan PKBM belum sepenuhnya seiring dengan kearifan lokal. (2) Koefisien korelasi kondisi PKBM dengan persepsi masyarakat tentang PKBM cukup kuat. Kondisi PKBM berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap persepsi masyarakat tentang PKBM. Oleh karenanya, penulis menyarankan agar kurikulum PKBM dikembangkan sehingga mengakomodir kearifan lokal. Kata Kunci: Persepsi, Pusat Kegiatan Belajar Masyarakat ABSTRACT One of the components of the human development index (HDI) is education. The reality shows that in West Java Province the dropout rate is still high. The solution to solve the problem of dropping out of school students is PKBM. On that basis, this study focuses on the existence of PKBM and public perceptions about PKBM. The research method used is descriptive and verification methods with a quantitative approach. Meanwhile, the data collection techniques were by direct observation, interviews with related parties, and questionnaires (closed and structured). The questionnaire was distributed to 54 people consisting of village officials, parents of PKBM students, and PKBM students who were more than 17 years old. Determination of the number of samples using the Slovin formula with the sampling technique by simple random sampling. Processing of research results using regression analysis techniques. The significance test used the F-test. The results showed that: (1) the condition of PKBM is good if seen from community participation, usefulness, and independence, except when viewed from the relevance of the score which is the smallest compared to other dimensions because the program organized by PKBM is not fully in line with local wisdom. (2) The correlation coefficient of PKBM conditions with public perceptions of PKBM is quite strong. PKBM conditions have a positive and significant effect on people's perceptions of PKBM. Therefore, the authors suggest that the PKBM curriculum be developed so that it accommodates local wisdom. Keywords: Perception, Community Learning Activity Center
