Collective Pride and Enlightened
Citizenship Behavior at Workplace
An Exploratory Study

ABSTRACT
The focus of this paper is to explore people’s perception of the two
terms ‘Collective Pride’ and ‘Enlightened Citizenship Behaviour’ in the
workplace context. The causation of Collective Pride and Enlightened
Citizenship Behaviour has also been discussed in the light of currently
available related (derived) literature. Due to dearth of direct literature in
the area, the findings of the study are likely to enable operationalization
of the terms for further inquiry into their role in the creation of happy
and harmonious workplaces and development of suitable intervention
strategies.

Introduction
W
e spend a significant part of our entire life at work, than on any
other activity in the world, the workplace becoming our first home
and our own home, the second.Yet most of us tend to look at it with
disinterest, wishing we could escape. While for some of us work becomes
a way of life, the calling, a mission, an offering to the divine or worship.
The question of the hour for us is then “What is work according to us?
