Abstract—In densely populated countries, medical facilities are not much available in country-side areas. If
it is about animal health, it is rare to get a good cure. The owner has to take the animal to the Vet and will have
to do it every time if he is living in remote places. Most countries in South Asia have this situation where ani-
mal husbandry is a common source of earning bread. Many times either the animal is not getting cure on time
or diseases are detected at a later stage which harms them most. This paper describes a cellular communica-
tion based mobile system which can be used to monitor the health of animals in the remote country-side area.
Also, the owner can get a prescription from the doctor and cure animals according to doctor’s advice. The
developed system uses client-server model and can work for multiple patients who are connected with the
same doctor. The Vet can access this system on his PDA or desktop using a web application.

1. INTRODUCTION
In today’s era, the use of mobile phones and its
capabilities has increased to a greater extent that is
leading to the exploration of new possibilities in the
coming future. As an example of this exploration, the
use of mobile phones for healthcare has gained in
recent years the attention of the research community.
But, in present no such extensive research has been
developed towards this field of medical healthcare.
The use of remote monitoring system is increasing in
almost all the expected applications. Recently, some
research is going on towards the growth of medical
field using information technology on the basis of
computers, mobile phones, and the networks. The
mobile phones which integrate various functions, such
as personal information management, camera and
application platform, they are increasingly being used
in many applications. The system discussed here is
developed to deal with a concept of monitoring the
animals for their healthcare using mobile communica-
tion. Mobile phones make it possible to transfer large
data, such as photos, movies and application files etc.
The use of these mobile phones in the medical field
has many possibilities to bring anew era of medicine.

In South Asia, domestic animals are cows, buffa-
los, horses, dogs, cats, camels (in desert area), ele-
phant, goat, sheep, hen, duck etc. They are tamed and
then trained for performing different works. Hence,
these animals play important role in the life of their
owners, so they are well cared by their masters. There
exist many diseases which can infect animals. The
spread of several diseases can be controlled by proper
preventive and sanitary measures. An owner can easily
be able to recognize if an animal is sick by observing its
feeding habit, its normal posture, its definite body
temperature, pulse rates, and respiration rates [1].
Detection of sickness in animals at the early stages can
aid the farm-manager (owner) in restricting the spread
of disease in the flock and initiating treatment at the
earliest. The owner can identify the symptoms of the
disease in the animal and can take precautions, con-
trol, and treatment measures as soon as possible but in
the current scenario, he has to go to the hospital. So
there exists a need for aremote monitoring system to
assist the owners of animals for diseases anywhere
anytime same as it is needed for human [2].
2. SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE
As discussed above, with the advancement in the
technology and the need of remote service, there exists
a requirement of a remote monitoring system for the
animal to give proper medical assistance to all the
users. The primary objective of this project is to
develop a reliable, efficient and easily deployable
