CASE REPORT T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma of Tenon’s capsule: an unusual presentation Meenakshi Wadhwani • Deepti Verma • Kiran Agarwal • Om Prakash • Shailaja Shukla Received: 30 May 2013 / Accepted: 6 July 2013 Ó Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht 2013 Abstract Lymphoid neoplasms of the orbit account for approximately 6–8 % of all orbital tumors and 15 % of all ocular adnexal tumors. We report an unusual case of T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma occurring in a 30-year-old man, presenting as red, painless, firm swelling in the Tenon’s capsule of the eye. Keywords Lymphoblastic lymphoma Á Tenons capsule Á T cell Introduction The most frequent site for extranodal presentations of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is the orbit (5–14 %) [1], followed by the conjunctiva and eyelids [2]. Orbital involvement with lymphoid tumors is commonly of B-cell lineage and very few cases of T-cell lymphoid tumors have been reported to date [2]. Involvement of the eye by lymphoblastic lymphoma is uncommon and only a handful of cases have ever been reported [2–5]. Lymphomas affecting only Tenon’s capsule are very rare: only one case of B-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma in Tenon’s capsule has been reported to date [3]. To the best of our knowledge this is the first case of a T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma of Tenon’s capsule. Case report A 30-year-old man presented in the eye outpatient department with the complaint of redness and swelling in the right eye for the past 6 weeks. Initially, the swelling was pea-sized; it gradually increased to the size of a coin. It was not associated with diminution of vision, diplopia, pain, trauma, discharge or watering. There was no history of change in the colour and size of the swelling (postural or spontaneous). There was no history of fever, cough or weight loss. His general physical and systemic examinations were within normal limits. There was no lymphadenopathy or hepatomegaly. M.
