This program, which commenced in April, 2007, under sponsorship of the National
Agency for Science and Technology Promotion (Agencia Nacional de Promoción Científica y
Tecnológica) of Argentina, aims to develop a low-cost, PC-based, Real-Time, reconfigurable
Flight Simulator joining efforts of R&D groups of five National Universities (Córdoba, La
Plata, Buenos Aires, La Pampa and Bahía Blanca) and a Ministry of Defense R&D Center
(CITEFA); a general overview of this program can be seen in [Ref. 1].
The purpose of this paper is to present the development of the Aerodynamic and
Propulsive Data Bases for two aircraft types used for this task: a multi-role fighter (based in
the known characteristics of the Dassault M2000) and a generic military jet trainer.
Engineering methods [Ref. 2] are used as a baseline for the aerodynamic coefficients,
detecting their flaws and marking them to further calculations via CFD algorithms.
We also dedicate a paragraph to the algorithms used for Data Interpolation, since the
amount of them recommends its treatment in matrix-form; the processing of these data via
the matrix algorithms built-in in video graph cards is briefly treated..
Nomenclature
CD = drag coefficient
CL = lift coefficient
CM = pitch moment coefficient
CN = normal force coefficient
CA = axial force coefficient
CLα = derivative of lift coefficient w.r.t. angle of attack
CMα = derivative of pitching moment coefficient w.r.t. angle of attack
