Until now, there is no better treatment to wipe away these cancers when entering the fatal stadium. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the graphene quantum dots as a sensor of cancers in order to prevent it entering the deathly stadium. We studied the types of quantum dots before choosing graphene as the sensor and how this graphene quantum dots detects the present of cancer cells in the body. We also studied how this quantum dots is synthesized in a variation of methods: top-down methods and bottom-up methods. The final purpose of this paper is to give references of how graphene quantum dots detects the present of cancer cells in the body. The backwards philosophy herein is that the continuous studying of graphene as the quantum dots in purpose of improving its efficiency and accuracy as a sensor of cancers. Keywords cancer, graphene, quantum dot, sensor, synthesis 1. Introduction Cancers have long been a difficult disease to be cured and believed to be cell- autonomous and to date most research has focused directly on the malignant cells themselves (Albini & Sporn, 2007). At 2008 the world that report cancer have kill 12.7 billion people or about 188 case per 100,000 citizen. Until now there a lot of therapy modalities which develop to find a medicine of cancer such as herbal medicine that conventional like cyclophosphamide, methotrexate, doxorubicin, and fluorouracil. Advances in drug delivery are needed in particular holds promise as a means to improve bioavailability and half-life in circulation (Cosco, 2012). These therapies make use of the enhanced permeability and retention effect in tumors, thereby increasing the chemotherapeutic dose to tumor tissue, while at the same time sparing normal tissue from exposure. Several problem occur in use of conventional-chemotherapy-like the distribution are not appropriate, there are an effect in normal tissue and medicine metabolism that rapidly before reach a location of tumor. One of the method that develop to solve that problem is do approach nanomedicine (Chauhan & Jain, 2013) to be a medicine of cancer and can shoot the target in the specific area. * Corresponding author.
