Telkom University Email: rakeanwastu@telkomuniversity.ac.id ABSTRACT Although inferiority complex may have significant impacts on social interactions, adolescents seem to be unaware or dismiss problems caused by inferiority complex. Thus, investigating inferiority complex and its relationship with social interactions in adolescents may provide more insights on the impacts of inferiority complex toward adolescents. The present study aims to investigate the correlation between inferiority complex and social interactions in adolescents. The present study applies a correlational research. Data is collected using a convenience sampling technique by delivering an online questionnaire to 140 adolescents aged 10 to 19 years old. The findings of the present study show a strong and positive relationship between inferiority complex and social interaction, with a Pearson correlation value of 0.705. Implications and suggestions for further studies are also discussed. Keywords: Adolescents, Communication, Inferiority Complex, Social Interaction 1. Introduction Inferiority complex among adolescents seems to be concerning. In this sense, adolescents are individuals whose age is ranging from 10-19 years old where physical and psychological changes are significantly tangible (Adolescent health, 2019). One of the most noticeable characteristics of adolescence compared to other period is the thrust to move incessantly due to the frail psychological foundation and development (Yunistiati, Djalali, & Farid, 2014). The latter points may lead to inferiority complex among adolescents. Although inferiority complex may exist in all range of ages, it seems to be prevalent among adolescents (Khabar, 2019). Similar points are also found in the study of Jun (2013).
