It is caused by maternal alloantibodies against paternally inherited platelet antigens, resulting in platelet destruction. It might occur in the first pregnancy. Intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) is the most destructive conse- quence of FNAIT. It is noteworthy that FNAIT is one of the most common causes of ICH in an otherwise healthy full-term neonate. In the subsequent pregnancy, there is a higher risk of severe FNAIT-related complications, and so a maternal treatment in future pregnancies as prevention for FNAIT is very significant. We present three case reports of neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia and the current schemes of the prop- hylaxis against FNAIT and we also focus on the new prevention program in Poland. © 2016 Polish Pediatric Society.
