Halim 2 , dan Syamsul Rizal 2 1,2 Program Studi Magister Pendidikan IPA, Program Pasca Sarjana Universitas Syiah Kuala Banda Aceh, Indonesia Korespondensi : kiki_fauzi87@ymail.com Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas modul yang dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa, mengetahui keunggulan dan kelemahan modul dan keterlaksanaan pembelajaran dengan modul. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan dan desain penelitian untuk menguji efektivitas adalah one group pre-test and post-test design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMPN 2 Langsa. Data yang dikumpulkan dari penelitian ini adalah data penilaian modul oleh ahli materi, data pengukuran pemahaman konsep siswa sebelum dan setelah pembelajaran dengan modul, data pengukuran motivasi belajar siswa setelah pembelajaran dan informasi dari hasil wawancara dengan guru tentang pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan modul. Efektivitas modul ditentukan melalui uji statistik t berkorelasi untuk gain rata-rata minat belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan antara pemahaman konsep siswa sebelum dan setelah penerapan modul. Analisis terhadap keunggulan dan kelemahan modul didapatkan bahwa modul dapat memotivasi siswa dalam pembelajaran tetapi harus didukung oleh peran serta guru dan kelengkapan fasilitas sehingga proses pembelajaran dapat terlaksana dengan baik. Tingkat keterlaksanaan pembelajaran dengan modul adalah sangat baik. Kata Kunci : pengembangan modul, PhET, motivasi belajar siswa, pembiasan cahaya Abstract This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the module that was developed to enhance the students' understanding of concepts, know the advantages and disadvantages and feasibility of learning modules with modules. The method used is the research and development and design of the study to test the effectiveness is one group pre-test and post-test design. The population of this study were all students of class VIII SMP 2 Langsa. The data collected from this study is the data module assessment by expert materials, data measuring students 'understanding of concepts before and after learning module, students' motivation measurement data after learning and information from interviews with teachers on the implementation of the learning module. The effectiveness of the module is determined through statistical test t correlated to average gain student interest. The results of this study showed a significant difference between students' understanding of concepts before and after the application of the module. Analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the module was found that the modules can motivate students in learning but must be supported by the participation of teachers and completeness of the facility so that the learning process can be done well. Feasibility level learning module is very good.
