UNDERSTANDING TOURISM DECISION MAKING REGARDING THE HEALTH CONSCIOUSNESS ANNAMÁRIA MATÓ-JUHÁSZ 1, 1 Department of Theoretical Health Science, Faculty of Health Care, University of Miskolc, Hungary Abstract: Health consciousness is not only a fashionable phenomenon nowadays, but it is also a modern lifestyle based on a conscious decision. The manifestation of a healthy lifes- tyle in the 21 st century is already difficult to separate from the daily routine, since we can speak of a lifestyle. As a result, in whatever role a health-conscious person is, he/she lives his/her lifestyle in every role. The health consciousness of the third millennium can already be interpreted holistically, where in healthy lifestyle the psychic and mental aspects of health are as large as the other aspects of health. The question arises as to what kind of motivational elements appear in the choice of destination as a health conscious tourist, as an individual representing a holistic healthy lifestyle. Keywords: health consciousness, health tourism, experience, holistic health INTRODUCTION The motivation to explore the world was already present at the time of the Roman Empire, when it was not only the administrative, commercial and religious pur- poses that moved the travel, but also the pleasure. The tourism industry was al- ready a huge business opportunity. It is known that through the sprawling mechanism of tourism, tourism is able to vivify the economic life of an entire des- tination (INDRA 2009), (KUNDI 2013), and can contribute to improving the quality of life of the local population (SMITHKISS 2014). The sector is equipped with a self-stimulating mechanism. But all this is sustainable and authentic, if the desti- nation is based on its own values, its inhabitants and employees feel good in their place, they can identify with the values of the place, which makes their positive attitude towards the destination manifested in their work and hospitality. This type of destination credibility itself is an experience-enhancing element. At the same time, the lack of it can eliminate the positive feeling of any other experience.
