This is due to the fact that these types of problems are vague and uncertain in nature. Fuzzy logic has an inherent capability to deal with such problems. So, this research work aims to find the overall quality of a student depending upon technical skills, interpersonal skills, conceptual skills and personal skills using fuzzy logic. The first phase studies various factors influencing the overall performance of the student. The second phase deals with analyzing the consistency of factors using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). This research fulfills an identified need to study how decision support system to evaluate the overall performance of a student from teacher's point of view can be developed. Keywords: Student behavior, Student evaluation, Academic development, Students achievement, Analytic Hierarchy Process. 1. INTRODUCTION It is known that the students are the future of the country. The first and foremost duty of a teacher is to analyze the quality of students. For this purpose, it is essential to understand the psychology, taste, bent of mind and interest of the students. The understanding of all these parameters helps in extracting the hidden talent in the youth and for giving the right direction. It is very difficult to evaluate the quality of the student due to its inherent vagueness and uncertainty. These difficulties are further linked to the understanding of the student’s learning process. Learning is a psychological process of transformation and its estimation is known as evaluation. Learning is not only limited to the understanding of prescribed syllabus of the university; but it also incorporates creativity, self-motivation, intelligence, discipline, confidence, etc. Currently used fuzzy systems to evaluate performance of the student are primarily based on the learning capabilities of the students based on the answer sheets, writing skills of the students, adaptive learning module etc., but nothing concrete has been explored for evaluating the overall performance of the student. In order to develop high quality employable youth for the sustainable development, it is imperative to develop a mechanism to analyze the students. University examinations are evaluating the subject knowledge of the student. In spite of securing very high scores in the university examination yet the student may not be able to perform as expected due to some limitations. The students need to be assessed on other parameters like confidence level, creativity, discipline etc. Apart from delivering the subject knowledge to the students, it is the prime responsibility of the teacher to analyze and evaluate the students on all aspects of life and provide proper mentoring to the youth. It is a herculean task for the teacher to decide the overall quality of a student. The teacher has to rely on diligence, skills and experience to analyze the student. This contributes to levels of inconsistency in analyzing the comprehensive quality. Lot of
