Nowadays the tendency of restaurants is offering certain atmosphere that can support its main function. A pleasant atmosphere of a restaurant could make the meals, the services, and the entire consumer eating experience become more satisfying. With competitive situation nowadays, every restaurant would attempt to attract consumers. The whole image of a restaurant is built by sequences of process done by the consumers when they come to the restaurant. Image is the customer impression into an object that occurs through stimulation to their visual, hearing, taste, smell and touch senses. They capture those images from the architecture and interior design elements. Lighting that stimulates the visual senses would create certain mood. This research found that most restaurants used artificial lighting with incandescent lamp as illumination source, used medium intensity of light, various lighting fixtures and lighting placement. Moreover, to create pleasant atmosphere and image of the restaurant, the lighting plan had to fulfill the need of functional and aesthetic aspects and the lighting system had to be adjusted to the restaurant’s consumer segment, type of the restaurant, its theme, its atmosphere and its image. I PENDAHULUAN Pembangunan kota Bandung membawa peningkatan dalam beberapa sektor seperti ekonomi, sosial budaya, serta pariwisata. Seperti pada pembangunan kawasan Bandung utara, terjadi pergeseran fungsi dari kawasan pemukiman menjadi bercampur dengan kawasan komersial. Contoh bangunan komersial yang tumbuh di kota Bandung antara lain hotel, pertokoan, mall, restoran dan café. Bangunan- bangunan komersial tersebut merupakan sumber pendapatan dalam sektor ekonomi daerah, membuka lapangan kerja bagi penduduk, serta mengundang wisatawan dari luar kota maupun dari kota Bandung sendiri.
